The Campaign "Ghost Your Boss" Allows Swedish Fans to Ditch Work for Launch Day of Call of Duty

Nov. 04, 2023

There’s an unspoken tradition among gamers to skip work or school the day their favourite game launches. In Wenderfalck’s latest campaign for Call of Duty, they’ve capitalised on that desire.

In Sweden, you can call in sick for basically whatever reason without risking your job. You might not lose your job, but you will lose a full day of salary. This is called a "karensdag". To reimburse Swedish fans who want to stay home and play the new game this campaign offers the chance of getting a grant (karensbidrag in Swedish) of 1400 SEK. All you need to do to prove that you’re worthy of this unique grant is to solve a few tailor-made Call of Duty riddles on ghostyourboss.se

Anders Malm, creative director at Wenderfalck said:

"We all dream of ghosting our boss and doing something we love. The release day of a new game is pretty much the best day of the year for Call of Duty fans. So this campaign is a way of helping fans that skip work on launch day to celebrate the new release without suffering sick leave deductions."

The campaign is currently causing a frenzy on Swedish gaming forums, Reddit, Twitch and TikTok where Swedish Call of Duty fans try to solve the riddles to be eligible for the grand prize.

The "Ghost Your Boss" campaign refers to the well-known Call of Duty character Ghost. He was first introduced in the 2009 release of Modern Warfare II and was rebooted last year. Ghost is now leading a secret operation aiming to help Swedes go incognito at work on November 10th. To participate in the campaign and be eligible for the grant you’ll need to solve the riddles on ghostyourboss.se.

The campaign is currently running on social media, Call of Duty’s own channels, influencer collaborations, media partnerships and on ghostyourboss.se
