Consider Your Succulent Part Of The Fam? Lexington, KY Has The Hotel Of Your Dreams
Mar. 30, 2022
It's official. Thanks to a years-long pandemic and the rising costs of parenthood, pets are the new babies. And plants have been promoted to the new pets. Here's the proof.
With all the doting new plant parents in mind and just in time for Earth Day (4/22), agency Cornett worked with client VisitLEX (the convention and visitors bureau of Lexington, KY) and Elwood Hotel & Suites to turn traditional "pet-friendly" accommodations on their head and offer eco-conscious travelers the World's First Plant-Friendly Hotel experience.
Beginning Friday, April 8th, Elwood, Lexington’s newest boutique hotel, will roll out the red carpet for leafy guests. Guests booking a stay at the stylish hotel will have the option to select The Gardener's Premier Corner Room Package, chosen for their abundance of plant-friendly natural light that includes an array of fun add-ons for traveling plants and their humans.
The Gardener's Premiere Corner Room Package includes:
- A complimentary (and very adorable) potted succulent
- Locally made botanical toiletries from Kentucky Soaps & Such
- Nourishing “tea” for your plants served in Elwood’s signature pink mugs
- A handwritten welcome note and specially designed door hangers
- A breakfast credit for up to 2 people
Additional plant-centric perks available to all guests include a Garden Mojito cocktail special made with blackberry syrup, fresh herbs, and edible flowers at the hotel’s chic Fiddletree Kitchen & Bar.
Barbara Jean Josey, Director of Business Development and Hospitality Sales at Elwood Hotel & Suites said:
"Since guests already love Elwood's existing plant-themed design, we thought it made perfect sense to partner with VisitLEX to take things to the next level and encourage travelers to bring their beloved plants along for the adventure. After all, there are plenty of pet-friendly hotels out there. Why not offer the same Southern hospitality to the houseplants people love just as much?"
Already renowned as the Horse Capital of the World, Lexington, Kentucky, is unique among similarly sized destinations because it’s surrounded by more than 30,000 acres of pristine, protected farmland and over 450 meticulously landscaped Thoroughbred farms. A short drive in any direction from the city's vibrant downtown will put you in the middle of this lush environment and its world-famous bluegrass hills.

VisitLEX VP of Marketing Gathan Borden said:
"Whether they fly in or drive-in, the first thing people notice about Lexington is just how green it is. Everywhere you look something is growing and blooming. And we have so many activities and attractions that allow visitors to enjoy our natural beauty during their stay. Extending that love and appreciation for Mother Nature to a local hotel experience is a beautiful thing."
Visitors are encouraged to embrace all of Lexington's greenery through the new Plant-Friendly Guide to Lexington, available on the VisitLEX website. Ready to hit the road with your potted pal? Learn more about the World's First Plant-Friendly Hotel and book your stay at visitlex.com/plant-friendly.
